About Us

Catalina Island Health is a private, 501(c)3 non-profit. Serving the island’s medical needs since 1958, CIH’s primary care physicians and family nurse practitioners provide the community with a solid foundation of care. CIH serves its patients through a truly integrated healthcare delivery system consisting of a rural health clinic offering primary care and sports medicine services, an acute care hospital, skilled nursing services, physical and occupational therapy services, a robust mental health program offering both psychiatric and psychotherapy treatments, and extensive outpatient specialty programs. Its Catalina Island Fitness location offers consistent hours to utilize workout equipment and various classes for all levels.

In 2016, CIH began collaborating with University of California Irvine to provide emergency medicine specialists to expand care in the ER. In 2023, that collaboration evolved into a clinical affiliation between CIH and UCI Health. CIH’s Emergency Department is staffed 24/7 with a UCI Emergency Medicine Physician and supported by its laboratory and diagnostic imaging departments to meet the acute medical needs of island’s residents and visitors.
