Visiting Specialists

CI Health’s primary care physicians and family nurse practitioner provide the island community with a solid foundation of care. When specialty care is needed however, a trip to the mainland is not always necessary, thanks to the visiting specialist providers who regularly provide services at CI Health.

Visiting specialists regularly see patients at Catalina Island Health, typically on Saturdays in the medical group office and are often also available for virtual appointments. Cardiology, Ophthalmology, Urology, Podiatry, and Vascular Medicine are just some of the medical specialties available.

Appointments must be scheduled directly with each visiting specialist’s office.

Timothy began his optical career as an Optician at the age of nineteen, and quickly realized it was his passion to help people to see better. Shortly thereafter he obtained his Registered Spectacle Lens Dispenser license. In 2017 he started his own business, Top Opticians Mobile Vision. Timothy travels to various healthcare facilities conducting mobile vision screenings using a new technology mobile device. Following the screening, the information on the device is sent to a doctor on a telehealth platform who renews the current prescription or writes a new one. Tim then helps folks select their next pair of glasses from a large assortment of eyeglass frames he brings with him.  Eyeglasses are typically ready within two weeks. More Information

Dr. Jacob Jensen is Board Certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine and has a special interest in limb salvage, amputation prevention, as well as flatfoot reconstruction. After obtaining his degree in Podiatric Medicine from Midwestern University, he came to California to complete his surgical residency training at facilities throughout LA, San Bernardino, and Orange counties including Camp Pendleton Naval Hospital. He treats conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis, ingrown nails, painful lesions, and other foot related problems.

Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Larson has advanced training in the treatment of a wide array of upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders. He is adept at using microsurgical, arthroscopic, and open techniques in the treatment of both chronic and acute conditions. He attended medical school at Saint Louis University followed by residency in Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Virginia. Following residency, he completed a comprehensive Hand and Upper Extremity fellowship at UCSF where he excelled in treating complex surgical and non-operative pathology involving the elbow, forearm, wrist, and hand. His goal is to improve the lives of his patients by providing them with great care and returning them back to work and play.
